PIZZA & GOOD TIMES

Nights & Weekends is a wood-fired pizzeria serving Neapolitan-style pies alongside small plates, salads, craft beer, wine and cocktails. We offer a casual, family friendly atmosphere with a welcoming staff. Opened on August 4th, 2021 by three Ohio natives, we are thrilled to bring delicious pizza and drinks to Ashtabula. You’ll find us on Bridge Street in the Historic Harbor district.

So wait. What is Neapolitan pizza? In short, it’s a pizza style that originated in Naples, Italy, emphasizing fresh, everyday ingredients cooked quickly in hella hot heat. The result is a flavorful pie with a crisp, torched crust and a delicate, chewy center. Salute.

Our Pavesi pizza oven, made in Modena, Italy, was assembled on location—and if we may be so bold, she’s a thing of beauty. A wood and gas hybrid, it’s fueled by locally sourced hardwood, including beech, oak, and cherry. We cook our pies at 750-800° Fahrenheit. Each is done in two minutes. Who’s hungry?

OUR TEAM

Chris Capo

Chris is a third-generation pizza maker. His grandfather started making pizza in the 1940s in Los Angeles, before opening parlors in New York and Pennsylvania. In 1965, he moved to Ohio, opening Capo’s Pizza at Geneva-on-the-Lake. In 1977, Chris’s parents opened a second Capo’s Pizza in Geneva.
While the Capo’s pizzerias serve a more brick oven New York-style, Chris is grateful to build upon his family’s tradition and offer wood-fired pies.

Cole Emde

Cole grew up in Cleveland. A homebrewer turned pro, he and a small team opened Black Sands Brewery in San Francisco in 2015. After it was purchased by Fort Point Beer, Cole and his wife Jacq moved back to Ohio. While pizza’s the name in lights, Nights & Weekends has a dozen beers on tap, offering a variety of Midwest favorites as well as a rotation of rare brews like sours, wild ales, and barrel-aged beers.
Cole is working with Nights & Weekends’ neighbor Cloven Hoof Brewing on some single hop IPAs. Small batches. Lotsa flavor. More to come.

Jacqueline von Tesmar

Jacq is a fifth-generation Ashtabula native. She and Cole met in New York City and lived in San Francisco before returning home (this time with a sixth-generation Ashtabulan, their daughter Selma). An artist at heart, Jacq developed the Nights & Weekends brand and designed the interior of the pizzeria—don’t miss the hand-painted terrazzo bathroom.
In addition to overseeing marketing and communications, Jacq’s focused on hiring and building a great team to keep everything humming.
